Shinsuke Hosokawa
Contemporary Zen · b. 1971
“The anxious mind is still the Buddha mind. It just forgot to breathe.”
Shinsuke Hosokawa is a contemporary Japanese Zen teacher and author whose work bridges traditional Zen practice with the realities of modern anxiety, burnout, and distraction.
Trained in the Sōtō tradition, Hosokawa teaches that the anxious mind is not an obstacle to practice but its most fertile ground. He offers simple practices that can be done anywhere.
His approach is warm and modern without losing the depth of the tradition. He writes for the person who thinks they can’t do it.
Key teachings
Everyday Zen
Practice belongs in the middle of life, not apart from it. The anxious moment is the perfect moment to begin.
